Hello.

I am Alden Stevens.

I thought you might like to know a little bit about me, either because you’ve read The Simple Words, or because you are thinking you might.

Anyway, I am well into my 50s, and live full time in a motor home.  I like that sometimes when I wake, I can’t remember what vista I’ll see when I open the blinds.  I also like that my residence leaves such a small footprint on the Earth.

My vocation (the one that pays the bills) involves making order out of chaos as a freelance municipal records management consultant.

A few years ago, I began studying Argentine Tango. Since then, I have danced and studied Argentine Tango in Atlanta, New Orleans, Montréal, Houston, Ithaca, Nijmegen (Netherlands), Paris (France), and of course, my most frequent piéd à terre, Rochester, NY.

Oh, and in June of 2005, I married my first tango instructor.

Someday, when Barbara wearies of running her dance studio, or when I am ready to set aside my Gypsy lifestyle, we’ll actually live together.

In any case, I wake up grateful every morning.
